SUMMARY:December 10\, 2024 - 30th Annual Stakeholder's Meeting - 9 am to 4 pm CST
DESCRIPTION:Join Wisconsin Clean Cities for an afternoon of sustainable transportation at our 30th Annual Meeting. This luncheon event brings together Wisconsin Clean Cities members\, industry stakeholders\, DOT representatives\, Wisconsin Government officials\, and transportation leaders to exchange ideas\, be recognized for contributions to a cleaner Wisconsin\, and capitalize on the collective expertise of the entire network. Help us celebrate the successes of Wisconsin organizations in embracing sustainable transportation. Network and engage with prominent figures in the industry\, visit exhibitors\, experience a taste of Forest County Potawatomi culture\, and enjoy a tour of the award-winning Wgema Campus! \n \nOur member\, Potawatomi Ventures\, was recently recognized by the US Department of Energy for developing a best-in-class workplace charging environment at the Milwaukee Wgema campus. Only three organizations in the US have received this esteemed award from the DOE. Wisconsin Clean Cities is proud to announce that we will be holding our 30th annual stakeholder’s meeting at this innovative\, award-winning institution. \n  \n \n  \nWhen: 12/10/2024\, 9am – 4pm CST \n  \nWhere: The Potawatomi Wgema (“Little Chief”) Campus – The Wgecheda (“Warrior”) Building 3136 W. Kilbourn Avenue\, Milwaukee\, WI 53208  \nWgema campus is a gated facility with a 43\,000 square foot underground parking structure\, state of the art security\, and loaded with innovative energy systems.  The surveilled underground parking structure leads to a vestibule directly across from the Wgecheda building\, which features a stone council circle and statue of a Native American warrior seated before its entrance. Once you are within the gated facility\, you will be directed by uniformed guards on where to park and how to enter the event venue. There are two entrances we recommend to drive into the facility: \n\n\n\n\n\nGate #2 on 32nd and Kilbourn\,\nGate #3 on 33rd and Wells.\n\n\n\n\n\n \n  \nWgema campus was originally built in 1881\, then known as Concordia College of Milwaukee\, a renowned academic institution which graduated many notable scientists\, politicians\, and athletes. It’s gym facilities hosted the Milwaukee Bucks. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar called it home.  Our members\, the Forest County Potawatomi\, and its business venture division\, acquired the campus in 1990 and have since invested 100 million dollars renovating its historic halls and retrofitting the architecture to support sustainable forms of energy\, while paying homage to its original character as they incorporate Potawatomi heritage.  Wgema serves as an Urban Indian Center\, featuring a school\, cafeteria\, gymnasium\, tribal court\, clinic\, treaty room and other vital facilities. Our 30th annual stakeholder’s meeting will be held in the former Concordia Chapel. WCC thanks our gracious hosts\, Potawatomi ventures for donating the venue space for our event\, sharing with us their vision to preserve and restore the historic beauty of Wisconsin. \n \n \n  \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \nPotawatomi\, “The keepers of the fire”\, are not only one of Wisconsin’s leading hospitality ventures\, owning Milwaukee’s largest Casino and hotel; but they also own and operate several restaurants\, event venues\, and branched into real estate development in 2010.  GreenFire Management has been working to restore several historical areas of interest throughout Wisconsin. You may view the renovation of the Wgema campus and other tribal projects here. \n \n  \n\nAgenda\n9:00 am: Register and get settled in. Pour a coffee\, nibble on some breakfast pastries\, and say good morning to our exhibitors!\n9:30 am: Welcome and Opening Remarks\n \nBrad Schmoll is the Director of the Alternative Energy division of CMD Corporation\, an industry leader in providing capital equipment and services to the Compressed Natural Gas Market. SUMMARY:September 25 2024 - Madison Fleet Tour - 12:30pm - 3pm
DESCRIPTION:Who: The Wisconsin Association of Energy Engineers (WAEE) invites you to join us at the City of Madison Fleet Building to learn about their EV Fleet! \nWhat: In March of 2017\, the City of Madison became the 25th city in North America to set a goal of achieving 100% renewable energy and zero-net carbon emissions for city operations by 2030. Integral to this mission is adopting cleaner fuel vehicles through out it’s municipal fleets. Madison began using an electric fire truck in 2021\, and recently unrolled a new “bus rapid transit” system utilizing 62 fully electric buses. \nOn September 17th\, 2024 the City announced two electric refuse trucks are joining the fleet; The very first fully electric class 8 garbage trucks in the state of Wisconsin! Collecting Trash may be messy business\, but these additions will be offering cleaner alternatives for our Capital City. These EV trucks are quieter than the current diesel powered models in use\, and produce no tailpipe emissions. Madison citizens will reap the rewards of improved air quality (which is shown to reduce heart disease and asthma rates)\, and quieter trash collection mornings. \nOn September 25th\, the public is welcome to tour the 110\,000 square foot headquarters for City of Madison Fleet. It is the first municipal auto garage in America to achieve LEED GOLD certification from US Green Business Council for its environmental features\, including 248 rooftop solar panels (with over 500 more being installed right now by the Madison Green Power program)\, solar EV charging\, a solar heating wall\, fleet EV charging\, public EV charging\, and employee EV charging. The City of Madison has installed over 1\,000 soybean oil tires and runs one of the largest fleet biodiesel programs in America. \nWhen: September 25\, 2024- 12:30pm to 3pm \nWhere: 151 Nakoosa Trail\, Madison Wisconsin \nAgenda: \n10:30am – WAEE board will meet at 10:30 at City of Madison Fleet. Anyone interested in learning more about WAEE is welcome to attend. The board is comprised of energy industry professionals who volunteer their time to promote education and awareness in the energy industry. \n12:00pm – Lunch \n12:30pm – Presentations \n2:00 pm – Tour \n3:00pm – Adjourn \nRegister Here \n\nEVENT RECAP\n\n\nWCC Welcomes Wisconsin’s First Electric Trash Trucks!\n\nOn September 25th City officials invited the public to tour and name the two new trucks. Suggestions poured in from around the capital.  Bryan Johnson\, Recycling Coordinator and Public Information Officer for the City Of Madison Streets Division\, allowed Wisconsin Clean Cities to host the tie breaking voting! 2\,546 Wisconsinites cast their ballots! \n                        What is the Blue Side Loading Electric Refuse Truck called?                                               What was the Gold Rear Loading Electric refuse Truck named? \n \n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n\n  \n  \n  \n\n \n  \n\n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nThe tires Below are made of Soybean Oil! The use of soybean oil in tires provides increased performance by improving flexibility in lower temperatures and enhancing traction in rain and snow.  Using soybean oil also helps support American farmers. \n  \n \n  \n  \n \n \n  \nWCC Board Member Mahanth Joishy (left) Superintendent of the City of Madison Fleet Service pictures with WCC Director Fred Schnook (right) \n  \n \n
